Welcome

This is my little corner of cyberspace. Here you will find a few of the things I am interested in, a few of my original stories and some other cool stuff. I'll try to update this site periodically, so come back often to see what's going on.

The Big Update

Shannon and I moved from Seattle to Texas in February not sure of our future. We knew we wanted to move back to New Zealand but had to go through the process of applying for visas. We gathered all the paperwork and mailed it in late May. We heard back quite promplty that we needed to have medical exams. We needed physical exams, chest x-rays, and blood work. Basically, they wanted to make sure we didn't have TB, syphillis, or HIV. So, we showed up at my new doctor's office with two 14 page reports that had to be filled out. It was really quite burdensome but the office staff seemed to enjoy it. Two weeks later, we were the proud holders of one year work visas in New Zealand.

The best part is that they are good for one year from the time we arrive in NZ instead of one year from when they were issued. This really relieved a lot of stress for us because we just didn't have enough money to get down there right away. So, we decided to stay here in Texas until after the new year and save some money.

I can't wait to get down there. NZ is just the most beautiful country on Earth. I'm so excited that we'll have the luxury of time to explore to our hearts' content. We hope to get work-to-residency visas and be able to stay down there as long as we want. We'll see what the future holds.

In the meantime, we're just trying to keep our skin from melting off in this insane summer heat. I really didn't expect to ever see another Texas summer. UGH!
